Getting started with DictateAI.

Download the app for macOS, Windows or Linux, install it, and allow the microphone permission when prompted. No account is required to try the live demo on our landing page; an account is needed to transcribe through the app.

Press the global shortcut (default: Option+Space) to open the microphone, speak, and release. The transcript is inserted at your cursor in any application. A hairline indicator shows when audio is live.

Say “new paragraph”, “scratch that”, “new line”, “comma”, “period”, or “code block” to control formatting as you speak. Commands run on-device and are not sent to the transcription service.

Open Settings → Vocabulary to add names, acronyms or jargon. Entries are stored in a plain text file on your device that you can read, edit and version.

Dictation supports 41 languages with automatic detection. You can also pin a language in Settings to skip detection and reduce latency.
